Dental health is also about looking and feeling good and today there has never been a better time to seek cosmetic dentistry. With the latest technological advances it is now possible to provide a range of affordable and quick solutions for broken, discoloured, misshapen and misplaced teeth.

At Melbourne Dentist Clinic we undertake the full range of cosmetic techniques, which are all designed to improve the appearance and colour of your teeth and allow you to smile with confidence!

TEETH WHITENING MELBOURNE

Smoking and drinking tea and coffee, as well as red wine and other darkly coloured drinks, can take a heavy toll on your teeth and turn them various shades of yellow or brown. Some courses of antibiotics can also turn your teeth grey. Thankfully, we offer a teeth whitening service that can restore the whiteness and vitality to your smile.

This involves no invasive surgery, it’s simply a case of one of our dentists preparing a tray that fits into your mouth - a bit like a mouthguard; this holds a whitening gel that gently works on your teeth through special non-harmful chemicals, which mix with oxygen to make your teeth lighter and whiter.

Total treatment length is between three to six weeks but after an introduction to the process at our surgery, you can apply the whitening product easily and effectively at home.

WHAT IS A CROWN?

If you have a weak tooth, or are missing one or more teeth, you may need a crown, which sits over the tooth. The process behind a crown involves taking an impression of your tooth using a special rubbery material, which is then sent off to a lab where a technician will carefully make a crown.

The process could take anything up to two weeks, so before this new crown is fitted your tooth will be protected by a temporary crown that is then carefully removed and replaced with the permanent crown. Crowns can be made from a wide variety of materials, including porcelain and even gold that has been bonded to porcelain. Before we undertake your crown procedure we will have a full discussion with you about what you want to achieve from the process.

WHAT IS A BRIDGE?

If you are missing one or more teeth then a bridge can be fitted to stop the surrounding teeth from moving out of place. This is especially good for people who don’t want to go down the route of dentures. A bridge is made by a false tooth in the middle that is flanked on either side by a crown. They are usually constructed out of a precious metal fixed to porcelain, whilst non-precious metals can be utilised in the bridge base to add strength.

WHAT ARE DENTAL IMPLANTS?

If you don’t want to consider bridges or dentures then implants offer an ideal solution. Although more expensive, they offer an excellent method for replacing lost, broken or unstable teeth. This is a surgical procedure that involves inserting special titanium rods into the jawbone – these then act as a solid base onto which a crown is placed.

WHAT IS A VENEER?

A veneer is a thin strip of porcelain that is designed to fit perfectly over your existing teeth. They represent a very effective, and affordable, method of improving the appearance of teeth that have become discoloured or have chipped or cracked.

A dental technician will carefully prepare your veneers after one of our dentists has made an impression of the tooth for them to follow. A tooth-shaped veneer is then made that is placed on the surface of your tooth to act as a facade, masking any flaws and creating a uniform, natural and healthy appearance.

WHAT IS INVISALIGN?

Using advanced 3-D computer-imaging technology, Invisalign is a modern teeth-straightening system that has helped over 4 million patients worldwide attain straight and beautiful teeth.

The sophisticated technology assists the dentist in mapping out a complete treatment plan and produces a series of clear braces, known as aligners, that conform to your individual teeth size, contours and measurements.
